As you know, one of the main objectives of our COST Action is the creation of an observatory that follows the work of our project.
The aim of this newsletter is to update you on the development of the forthcoming research association “European Rural Youth Observatory (EURYO)” that we hope you will be a part of.
- Currently, we are working on finalising EURYO statutes and other formalities, including the policy on the fees for being a member (with various membership options). We will inform you about the precise fees in one of the following newsletters – hopefully by May.
- There are several important activities that are being implemented or planned to further develop and disseminate EURYO:
- In the first half of 2023, COST Action CA18213 “Rural NEET Youth Network” is organizing meetings in Brussels with several stakeholders in the field of rural youth and rural development. The main aim of these meetings is to further develop the collaboration between researchers in interdisciplinary fields and from many countries that are already part of COST Action CA18213 and organisations and institutions that are working with rural youth issues. Among these stakeholders are several branches of the European Commission, the European Committee of Regions and the European Network of Public Employment Services, to mention just a few.
- On April 12th a first meeting with stakeholders will take place in Brussels, in COST Association Headquarters – including the leaders of COST Action CA18213 WG3 and WG4,“Ruralization” project and several stakeholders with an aim to find common ground for future collaboration and the promotion of EURYO. The meeting is entitled “Green Jobs for Young People: Implications for Rural Development and Rural Societies Future”.
- COST Action CA18213 is organizing the conference “The future of young people in the peripheries of Europe” in The Azores Islands, Portugal, on May 24th. The conference will discuss the issues of rural youth from various perspectives and will look for possible interdisciplinary solutions for rural young people living in the remote, peripherical, rural areas of Europe. During the conference, the development and updates of EURYO will also be presented.
- The project “Track-IN” will be organizing the conference Activating NEETs: Challenges and solutions across Europe. This conference will take place in Naples on the 6th of June. During the conference, there will be a panel dedicated to presenting the EURYO to several Italian and international stakeholders.
